Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Registered Nurse for the Medical Intermediate Unit (CDH 4C) on a full-time night schedule, 7p-7:30a with rotating weekends, in a 26-bed rapid-paced unit.

The role requires an Illinois RN license and BLS, with ADN acceptable and a commitment to obtain a BSN within three years. Strong teamwork and analytic skills are essential for patient care and safety.

Qualifications

• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.
• BLS certification by American Heart Association.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.
• Strong analytic abilities.
• ADN acceptable with commitment to BSN within three years.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for medical-surgical patients on a 26-bed unit with continuous monitoring.
• Perform frequent assessments and timely interventions.
• Collaborate with the care team to ensure patient safety and quality outcomes.
• Care for patients with complex medical conditions and post-operative needs.
• Participate in rotating night shifts and weekends as assigned.

CDH 4C Medical Intermediate Unit

• 26 bed fast paced, mixed acuity Intermediate Medical Surgical Unit
• Inpatient unit that provides care for patients with complex medical conditions, post‑operative needs, or clinical instability requiring continuous cardiac monitoring, frequent assessments, and timely interventions.
• Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to collaborate with others
• Strong analytic abilities

*Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) acceptable with commitment to obtain a BSN from an accredited program within three years of first day of employment in clinical nurse role.

Preferred:

• Experience in Medical Stepdown
• Additional Preferences for the Emergency Room and the Pediatric Emergency Room
• Emergency Communications Registered Nurse
• Certified Pediatric Nurse
• Certified Emergency Nurse
