Valley Health seeks a Registered Nurse III for its Medical/Surgical department in Virginia/West Virginia regional care. The RN III will perform comprehensive nursing processes, lead teams, and ensure patient teaching and safety initiatives are implemented with quality communication and professionalism.

Requirements include a BSN, RN license (VA/WV eligible), BLS, and 5,616 hours RN experience. ACLS/EKG and Pharmacology coursework may be required for Labor and Delivery.

Competenze

• BSN is required; MSN is preferred.
• RN license is required; must be eligible to practice in VA and/or WV.
• BLS certification (AHA Healthcare Provider) required.
• Minimum of 5,616 hours RN experience is required.
• Labor and Delivery RNs may need ACLS or EKG within 6 months and Pharmacology class within 6 months.

Job Description

The registered professional nurse is responsible for utilizing job skills to effectively carry out the nursing process: including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, evaluation, documentation and time management. They are responsible for quality communication, teamwork and leadership/professionalism. Also directs, coordinates and implements patient teaching, quality/safety initiatives, and activities of other health team personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.

A Registered Nurse III (RN III) is responsible for the care of the population they are assigned. A RN III is required to complete yearly mandatory competencies, any unit specific competencies that are identified by the Director/Designee as it relates to the patient population of their unit as well as completion of the Professional Practice Ladder requirements which include: Assuming responsibility as Charge Nurse, PI Activity and department initiatives, communicates and shares information to Director/Designee and co-workers from unit or hospital committee, a Valley Health paid Education, Seminar/Conference, workshop or Nursing Article. Portfolio is current and submitted to Director/Designee annually by March 1st. Must be on a committee and provide validation of participation. Routinely solicits and validates patient/family satisfaction, participates in peer review for unit and develops bulletin board or poster that provides educational information to staff/patients/family members.

Education
Bachelors Nursing (BSN) is required.

Masters Nursing (MSN) is preferred.

Experience
Advancement to this level requires a minimum of 5616 hours of RN experience.

Certification & Licensures

RN license required. Based on the primary state of residency and in accordance with current Virginia and West Virginia Boards of Nursing regulations, the candidate must be licensed or eligible to practice pending licensure as a Registered Nurse in the applicable state of work assignment (Virginia and/or West Virginia) with either: A multistate license under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC); orA single-state license valid in the applicable state of work assignment (Virginia or West Virginia only).

BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart 'Healthcare Provider' (HCP) - AHA approved required. New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.

Relevant Specialty Certification is preferred.

For Labor and Delivery RN's only:

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support or EKG (Electrocardiogram) is required for all RNs working in Labor and Delivery, within 6 months of hire.

Pharmacology Class is required for all RNs working in Labor and Delivery, within 6 months of hire.

Qualifications
Meets all requirements of a RN II.

Competent to provide case based on the cognitive, physical, emotional and chronological stages of human growth and development.

Competent to provide care using the nursing process.

Must have a reliable means of phone communication with hospital.
