Unit Description:

• Ortho Med Tele is a 40-bed unit specializing in orthopedic joint replacement, urology procedures, surgeries, and general surgery patients.
• We are DNV-GL Certified for Orthopedics.
• We are a Dedicated Education Unit providing an open and inclusive learning environment, partnering with local colleges for nursing students to focus on their educational experience.
• We believe in teamwork and are a cohesive team from multiple disciplines working together to provide comprehensive whole-body healthcare to patients and families. You will be an active member of this team.

The role you’ll contribute:

The Registered Professional Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing and supervising direct and indirect total nursing care to identified age-specific groups. Utilizes the nursing process (assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating) to achieve departmental goals. Adheres to the AdventHealth Corporate Compliance Plan and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations and accreditation standards. Actively participates in delivering outstanding customer service and maintains respectful relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.

• NURSING PROCESS: Completes timely assessments following Practice Guidelines, considering physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors, including signs of abuse or neglect. Makes appropriate decisions and interventions based on patient health conditions or needs. (ANA, 2012)
• NURSING PROCESS: Sets measurable, achievable short- and long-term goals based on assessments and diagnoses, developing and implementing individualized care plans. Performs follow-up assessments, evaluates, and modifies plans as needed, ensuring whole-person care that addresses mind, body, and spirit. (King, 1995)
• NURSING KNOWLEDGE: Assesses and interprets diagnostic data relevant to patient age and condition, including lab results, monitoring data, and interdisciplinary notes. Applies knowledge of diagnoses, procedures, medications, complications, and equipment related to the patient population.
• PATIENT SAFETY: Follows all regulatory standards, infection prevention protocols, medication safety policies, and emphasizes patient teaching, utilizing all opportunities to educate patients as part of the care plan.
• COMMUNICATION: Promotes an exceptional patient experience through compassionate, effective communication with patients, families, visitors, and the interdisciplinary team. Ensures thorough handoffs and follows the chain of command when appropriate.

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

Minimum qualifications:

• Graduate of a school of nursing
• Current valid State of Florida or multistate license as a Registered Nurse
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Advanced Life Support Certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP) as required by the unit
• EKG certification

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
• Professional Certification
