As an integral member of the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) healthcare team, the Registered Professional Nurse (RN) upholds the YNHHS mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives to provide the highest level of patient-centered care. The RN practices professional nursing within the legal and ethical frameworks established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model. The role emphasizes leadership, delegation, collaboration, effective communication, and ensuring quality outcomes.
The RN provides care that includes:
Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Current BCLS certification required within one month of hire.
Experience: All RNs encouraged to participate in the SPIRE clinical advancement program. Minimum 2 years of critical care experience (pediatric experience preferred). PALS certification required.
Licensure: Licensed and registered in Connecticut. Specialty certification highly encouraged.
Prolonged standing, walking, visual, auditory, and tactile engagement. Exposure to infectious diseases, physical, mental, and emotional stress, and end-of-life conditions. Ability to assist with patient handling up to 300 pounds.
