Job description

Sentara Leigh Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is hiring Full-Time & Part-Time RNs in our Med/Surg - Hematology Unit.

Hematology Unit Overview:

This is a brand new, state-of-the-art 24-bed unit caring for a variety of diagnoses including CHF, COPD, Sepsis, Pneumonia, Diabetes, Stroke, end-of-life, and chronic blood disorders such as Sickle Cell. You will gain experience in procedures like wound vacs, high-risk medication infusions, telemetry, trach care, chest tubes, and peritoneal dialysis.

Scheduling and Eligibility:

• Full-Time: 36 hours/week
• Part-Time: 12 hours/week
• Day Shift: 7am - 7pm
• Night Shift: 7pm - 7am
• Weekend Night Shift: 7pm - 7am (Fri-Sun)
• New grads are welcome!
• Self-scheduling available

Responsibilities:

The RN is responsible for providing competent nursing care based on the nursing process, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The RN adheres to professional standards encompassing ethics, communication, collaboration, leadership, evidence-based practice, and resource utilization, demonstrating clinical knowledge and skills specific to the clinical area.

Education Requirements:

• Diploma in Nursing (Required)
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Preferred)

Licensure and Certification:

• Valid RN License (Required)
• BLS Certification (Required)

Nurse Residency and Transition Programs:

Sentara offers a 6-month Nurse Residency program designed for new graduates and nurses transitioning to new practice areas, providing practical skills, mentorship, and professional development. All new grads are automatically enrolled, with no extra paperwork.
