Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare is seeking a registered nurse to provide professional nursing care for SIH patients across units. The role includes assessment, planning and collaboration with the care team.

Requires Illinois RN license, CPR/BLS, ACLS within 6 months, and unit-specific certifications; opportunities for professional growth in a supportive hospital environment.

Qualifications

  • Active Illinois Registered Nurse license
  • CPR/BLS certification
  • ACLS within 6 months of hire
  • ACLS & PALS within 6 months of hire
  • TNCC or TNS within 1 year (for ER) or residency graduation
  • ECRN within 24 months (for ER)
  • NRP/Perinatal certifications within 6 months (Birthing Center, Mother Baby, Neonatal)
  • Float to other SIH nursing units within competency level

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs
  • Provide compassionate environment and support to patients and families
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans with the care team
  • Provide health teaching and counseling to promote optimal health
  • Use clinical judgment with critical thinking to respond to patient changes
  • Complete accurate documentation in patient records
  • Contribute to policies to ensure patient safety and quality
  • Supervise licensed practical nurses and/or unlicensed assistants
  • Advocate for patients by collaborating with health professionals
  • Complete required education, competencies, and licensure on time
  • Float to other SIH units within competency level

Role Specific Responsibilities
  • Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs
  • Establish a compassionate environment to provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patient and families
  • Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates an individual plan of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team.
  • Provide in health teaching and counseling to promote, attain, and maintain the optimum health level of patients
  • Demonstrate ability to use clinical judgement in conjunction with critical thinking to recognize, act upon, and report changes in patient condition.
  • Complete, accurate and timely documentation in patient medical record
  • Provide input into the development of policies and procedures to support patient safety and quality of care
  • Supervision and delegation responsibilities of licensed practical nurse and/or unlicensed assistant personnel
  • Serve as an advocate for the patient by communicating and collaborating with other health service professionals
  • Timely completion of required education, competencies, and licensure.
  • Float to other SIH nursing units within competency level
Compensation
  • Commensurate with experience: $31.25 To $49.06
