Job summary

Trinity Health in Michigan is seeking a full-time Magnet Coordinator to lead the hospital’s efforts to obtain and maintain ANCC Magnet designation. The role coordinates the Magnet application process, data collection, reporting, and education, and collaborates with Magnet experts and nurse champions to advance nursing excellence.

Under supervision, you will manage timelines, mentor staff, and present Magnet journey updates while promoting professional practice and quality.

Qualifications

  • Master of Science in Nursing (Clinical, Education, Administration all acceptable).
  • Three years of nursing experience in an acute care setting.
  • Three years of teaching or leadership experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current Michigan RN license.
  • A professional board certification accepted by the Magnet Recognition Program must be completed within a year of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Magnet designation processes and timelines.
  • Collect, manage, and analyze data for Magnet standards toward the submission of the Magnet application.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the organization of the Magnet application process.
  • Write, and submit interim reports to ANCC.
  • Maintain current understanding, education, and knowledge of Magnet Program standards and updates, and communicate these findings to team members.
  • Collaborate with Magnet experts within and external to Trinity Health.
  • Develops and maintains a core group of Magnet Nurse Champions to collaborate with patient care service leadership team members to assist in education and implementation of the Magnet model.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of Magnet-related education.
  • Mentor staff nurses to support their role as educators about the Magnet process and serves as a resource to the community and area schools of nursing.
  • Serve as an active member of the Magnet Steering Committee and helps to establish a work plan and timeline to achieve and maintain Magnet designation.
  • Maintain and coordinate all internal aspects of Magnet status compliance and initiatives.
  • Create periodic Magnet journey status reports and presents at meetings in a variety of settings.
  • Serve as a change agent by challenging current processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Incorporate new technologies and methods to improve overall effectiveness.
  • Collaborate in the development, implementation and surveillance of nursing initiatives related to professional practice, patient care, and quality.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm for the pursuit of nursing excellence and the advancement of professional nursing practice.
  • Maintain a spirit of inquiry utilizing nursing evidence-based practice findings and research methodologies to improve care delivered.

Shift: Description: Serves as the primary coordinator and resource person for obtaining and sustaining designation as an ANCC Magnet™ hospital. Assumes responsibility for coordination of the ANCC Magnet™ application, designation, and re-designation process.

Position Purpose

Under general supervision, supports the organization in implementation of initiatives related to obtaining and maintaining Magnet™ designation and ensuring the organization's milieu reflects the internalization of the five components of Magnet. Serves as the primary coordinator and resource person for obtaining and sustaining designation as an ANCC Magnet™ hospital. Assumes responsibility for coordination of the ANCC Magnet™ application, designation, and re-designation process. Ensures a well-planned program structure, which addresses Transformational Leadership, Structural Empowerment, Exemplary Professional Practice, and New Knowledge Innovations and Improvements to promote excellence in patient care services as evidenced by Empirical Outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Accountable for the coordination of the organizational processes to obtain and maintain Magnet designation.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE
