Job description

$10,000 SIGN ON BONUS

Summary

Renders professional nursing care to residents and is accountable for demonstrating the ability to identify and utilize quality resident care. Observes and reports symptoms and conditions of residents and administers medications as prescribed by the resident’s physician.

Essential Duties
  • Distribute medications accurately and safely to residents within required time frame per physician order.
  • Participate and facilitate in resident care planning and shift records.
  • Provide treatments as necessary to residents within required time frame per physician order.
  • Maintain records reflecting resident conditions, medication and treatments. Timely and accurate documentation in resident charts. Complete nursing assessments as required. Including, but not limited to, following facility procedure to obtain the medication when it is not available for use.
  • Assist in feeding residents and daily cares as needed.
  • Maintaining a physical, social and psychological environment which is conducive to the best interests in the welfare of the resident.
  • Supervise, assign duties, and provide leadership to all nursing staff.
  • Observes, records and reports resident symptoms, reactions and changes, general physical, mental condition, and documents accordingly. Notification to proper persons of changes per facility policy and procedure.
  • Handles and assists in the admission, discharge and transfer of residents during their stay at the facility.
  • Answers questions from residents, families/ representatives, and other department staff.
  • Adheres to established standard of practice, scope of practice, federal and state regulations and facility policy and procedures.
  • Follow other instructions issued by physician, observe reactions, maintain records and medical treatment. Take physician orders verbally or over the phone.
  • Maintain a safe working environment, complying with infection control and QAPI Program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions
  • Must be in good mental and physical condition.
  • Be on call as necessary to ensure care to all residents.
  • Sits, stands, bends, stoops, pulls, and walks intermittently during work day.
  • Ability to lift and move residents and equipment.
  • Subject to burns, falls, bruises, scratches, exposure to infections, odors.
  • Ability to handle emergencies in calm manner, provide emergency care and instructions.
Qualifications
  • Must be a Registered Nurse and have a current registration from the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • Leadership ability and the willingness to cooperate with all personnel, residents, families/ representatives, visitors.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm and compassion for caring for the elderly.
  • Must have the ability to handle residents on whatever maturity level they are currently functioning with respect and dignity to the individual.
  • Organization, prioritizing, technical, and assessment skills with ability to follow oral and written instructions.
