Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital’s Emergency Department seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse to join a fast-paced Level I trauma center. The ED features 53 beds, and nurses collaborate with physicians and specialists to deliver timely, patient-centered care across trauma, cardiac, stroke, and critical care cases.

The role offers a full-time, 36-hour week schedule with a weekend night shift, competitive compensation, sign-on bonus, relocation assistance, and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• RN license required or eligible.

Responsibilities

Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department | Level I Trauma Center

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring full-time Registered Nurses for our Emergency Department, home to Hampton Roads’ only Level I Trauma Center. This is an opportunity to join a high-performing emergency nursing team where clinical skill, teamwork, and purpose come together to make an immediate impact for patients and families across the region.

Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital – Norfolk, VA

Position Status: Full-time, 36 hours per week

Shift: Weekend Night shift

Available Hours:

7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m.

Weekends: Every weekend

Holiday Rotation: Required

Education Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Registered Nursing required
• BSN or MSN preferred
• Students completing an accredited nursing program may be considered

Certification/Licensure Requirements

• Registered Nurse license required
• Students in the process of obtaining a Registered Nurse license may be considered
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire
• NIHSS, TCRN, SCRN, TNCC, CEN, PALS, and ACLS preferred

Experience Requirements

• Prior RN experience preferred
• Emergency Department experience preferred
• Strong candidates with related acute care, critical care, intermediate care, trauma, cardiac, stroke, or med/surg experience are encouraged to apply

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $41.93 - $61.01 hourly. Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, on-call pay, overtime, shift premiums, extra-shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
