Rivers Health is seeking a RN Internal Contract. Provides patient care on the nursing process and interdisciplinary collaboration.

The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below; and specific functions may change from time to time.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial assessment of patient.
• Formulates a plan of care and nursing diagnosis based on the assessment, considering emotional, spiritual and physical health.
• Assumes responsibility and accountability for overall quality of patient care.
• Ensures patient care is given according to the proficiency level of personnel while retaining accountability for duties delegated.
• Respects patient privacy rights and values of individual patients and provides care accordingly.
• Provides guidance to all personnel in their respective duties.
• Ensures cleaning, stocking, and quality control duties are accomplished.
• Ensures equipment needed to provide quality care is available, labels malfunctioning equipment appropriately and sends it to Biomed.
• Performs ongoing nursing assessments; utilizes assessment data to plan, revise, and update patient plan of care.
• Participates in ongoing evaluation of employees.
• Keeps Unit Coordinator/Supervisor, Patient Care Supervisors and/or Risk Manager apprised of special concerns regarding quality, cost-effective care, and risk management issues.
• Completes all annual competencies.
• Performs other duties that may be assigned.
• Complies with Corporate Policies, Departmental Policies and Procedures and Personnel Employee Handbook.
• Performs nursing care in a safe and timely manner according to hospital policies, procedures, and philosophy.
• Accurate documentation of care.
• Provides patient education and discharge planning in collaboration with other disciplines.
• Assists with orientation of new employees.
• Assures emergency equipment and supplies are available.
• Assumes responsibility for safe-guarding medications and narcotics.
• Safely administers medications with appropriate monitoring.
