Job summary

Beloit Health System is expanding its Intermediate Care/Cardiac Stepdown Unit, looking for a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive patient care at Beloit Memorial Hospital. In this role, you will support patients with complex conditions including cardiac rhythm issues and other comorbidities, while ensuring adherence to high standards of medical services.

Beloit Health System - Intermediate Care/Cardiac Stepdown Unit

Beloit Health System is adding to our team in our Intermediate Care/Cardiac Stepdown Unit with immediate openings for a Registered Nurse at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

• Sign-On Bonus: Yes
• Shift: 1st or 3rd
• Schedule: 7a-7p or 7p-7a
• Hours per week: 36 hours per week

• Department: Intermediate Care/Cardiac Stepdown Unit

In this position the Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse will plan, coordinate, supervise, and provide care for patients throughout their lifespan within the framework of well/illness continuum. This includes optimal service in a cost-effective manner. The Cardiac Stepdown Registered Nurse has additional training to interpret cardiac telemetry monitoring and respond to rapid changes in patient cardiac conditions effectively and accurately.

• Appropriately assess basic physical, psychological, and social needs of the patients and their families.
• Provide nursing care to patients with complex medical conditions including cardiac rhythm disturbances, Cerebral Vascular Attacks, Peritoneal Dialysis, and other comorbidities.
• Effectively plan patient care and consistently implement the patient’s plan of care.
• Accurately evaluate patient’s health status in relation to outcomes of nursing interventions/medical therapies.
• Provide patient/family education appropriately.
• Strictly adhere to infection control policies including body substance isolation and bloodborne pathogen precautions.
• Actively participate in Quality Improvement program.
• Perform unit specific duties according to established unit-based competencies.
• Complete documentation according to policy.
• Effectively set goals and priorities for provision of care to a group of patients according to acuity.
• Accurately interpret cardiac telemetry every 4 hours and respond to changes in patient condition.
• Ensure patient safety while handling, transporting and providing medications to patients; protect patients from various hazards, falls, disease exposure, etc.
• Demonstrate ability to perform functions accurately and efficiently with computer software application appropriate to position. Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
• ADN, Diploma, BSN, or MSN degree acceptable.
• State of Wisconsin nursing licensure, compact license or temporary permit required. (If a compact license, application for a State of Wisconsin nursing license must be initiated in no more than 30 days from start date).
• Must be CPR/BLS certified within 3 months of hire.
• Must be ACLS certified within 6 months of hire.
• ASLS and NIHSS stroke certified within 1 year of hire.
• Cardiac Telemetry course completion within 6 months of hire.
• Peritoneal Dialysis training within 1 year.
