Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare is seeking a professional Registered Nurse to provide high-quality nursing care for SIH patients. The role includes comprehensive assessment, planning, and execution of patient care with collaboration across disciplines.

Responsibilities include patient teaching, documentation, and contributing to safety policies. Nurses may float to other SIH units as needed and must maintain licensure and certifications with ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Current Illinois RN license or eligibility
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• ACLS/ICU and related program certifications required or within 6 months of hire
• NRP/PALS/other per unit requirements may be required

Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs
• Provide compassionate environment to support patients and families
• Plan, implement, and evaluate an individual care plan with the care team
• Deliver health teaching and counseling to promote optimal health
• Use clinical judgement with critical thinking to detect changes in condition
• Document accurately in the patient chart in a timely manner
• Contribute to policies ensuring patient safety and quality of care
• Supervise and delegate to licensed or unlicensed staff as appropriate
• Advocate for patients through collaboration with health professionals
• Complete required education, competencies, and licensure on schedule
• Float to other SIH nursing units within competency level

Role Specific Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs
• Establish a compassionate environment to provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patient and families
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates an individual plan of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team.
• Provide in health teaching and counseling to promote, attain, and maintain the optimum health level of patients
• Demonstrate ability to use clinical judgement in conjunction with critical thinking to recognize, act upon, and report changes in patient condition.
• Complete, accurate and timely documentation in patient medical record
• Provide input into the development of policies and procedures to support patient safety and quality of care
• Supervision and delegation responsibilities of licensed practical nurse and/or unlicensed assistant personnel
• Serve as an advocate for the patient by communicating and collaborating with other health service professionals
• Timely completion of required education, competencies, and licensure.
• Float to other SIH nursing units within competency level

Compensation (Commensurate with experience): $31.25 To $49.06
