About the Position

POSITION: RN ICU Float
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Part-time .6 FTE (48 hours per pay period)
WORK SCHEDULE: Days, Nights
DEPARTMENT: Critical Cares Services - ICU

Overview:
We care for patients with different diagnoses including but not limited to: Acute Myocardial Infarction, Congestive Heart Failure, Post-Trauma, Shock, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, Acute Croup, and Surgical Patients.

Job Duties:

  1. The Registered Nurse provides quality care to all patients and ensures patient safety throughout the continuum of patient care, advocates for the patient respecting advanced directives and patient decisions.
  2. The Registered Nurse completes admission assessment according to unit policy, utilizing past medical history, therapeutic communication, and physical assessment. Utilizes critical thinking and analysis.
  3. The Registered Nurse identifies accurately nursing diagnosis/collaborative problems to determine appropriate interventions within the framework of accepted standards of care.
  4. The Registered Nurse assesses the individual needs of the adult, geriatric, adolescent, and pediatric patients and develops appropriate plans of care.
  5. The Registered Nurse maintains accurate, objective patient records.
  6. The Registered Nurse ensures efficiency and accuracy of orders.
  7. The Registered Nurse assumes patient care responsibilities by organizing workload effectively and remaining flexible to environmental changes.
  8. The Registered Nurse utilizes department equipment correctly and efficiently; demonstrates knowledge of special preparations or equipment needed for department-specific procedures.
  9. The Registered Nurse nursing skills/competencies include but are not limited to: IV access, ECG interpretation, hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation, airway management, pain management, neurological assessment, fluid management, infection control measures, respiratory management, and sedation/analgesia assessment and monitoring.
  10. The Registered Nurse communicates professionally and collaborates effectively with patients, families, co-workers, health care team members, and ancillary departments to ensure patient-centered coordination of care.
  11. The RN demonstrates abilities to manage large volumes of multiple patient, family, staff, and physicians' priorities within short time frames and organize workload; includes critical thinking, delegation skills, and respectful communication.
  12. Ensures plan of care is consistent with nursing standards and hospital policy and procedures.
  13. Perform other related duties as required. This list is not all-inclusive, and any other task or job may be assigned in the future.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Registered with the Minnesota Board of Nursing. BSN preferred.
  2. Equivalent of one (1) year Critical Care experience or two (2) years Medical Surgical experience within the past five years.
  3. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications required and maintain certification.
  4. Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) or attain certification within six months of employment and maintain certification.
  5. Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Comprehensive Advance Life Support (CALS) certification or attain certification within 12 months of initial orientation in the emergency department and maintain certification.
  6. ECG recognition/interpretation within six months of employment.
  7. If no candidates meet the above requirements, consideration will be given to those with one (1) year relevant Medical/Surgical experience OR 6 months of relevant Critical Care experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) CCRN certification preferred.

The posted compensation range corresponds to the minimum and maximum pay rates outlined in your union agreement for the respective job classifications at the time of job posting. An individual's pay rate within this range may be influenced by various factors, including FTE, skills, knowledge, educational background, and qualifying experience as specified in the contract.
