Job summary

Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center in Louisiana seeks an experienced registered nurse to support infusion teams at the Alexandria and Leesville clinics. You will perform patient assessments, administer IV chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and targeted therapies, and document care in the EMR.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of clinic nursing experience, oncology background preferred, and current RN license with BLS CPR; ONS/OCN certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• RN license with BLS CPR is required.
• 3 years of clinic nursing experience; oncology experience preferred.
• Oncology infusion center experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide infusion nursing care for chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapies.
• Coordinate patient care with a multi-disciplinary team.
• Document procedures and patient education in the EMR.

Job Description

THIS POSITION SUPPORTS OUR INFUSION TEAMS IN BOTH LEESVILLE, LA AND ALEXSANDRIA, LA.

Schedule

• Alexandria Coverage Days: Mondays & Fridays
• Leesville Coverage Days: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays

SCOPE

Under the general direction of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse coordinates and provides patient care and assumes individual responsibility and accountability for the provision of nursing care. An ideal candidate should be able to assess and prioritize patient needs, have good time management and pay strict attention to details. Must be able to work independently, and work well with others. Activities include patient assessment and documentation of IV infusions of chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapies, IM and SC injections, central line access, dressing changes, therapeutic phlebotomies, patient education, patient triage and coordination of care through a multi-disciplinary approach.

Qualifications

Registered Nurse, BA and/or OCN Certification preferred.

3 years of nursing experience in a clinic, Oncology nursing experience preferred.

RN, BLS CPR required; ONS/OCN highly preferred

Oncology clinic and/or infusion operation

Ability to cover at both the Alexandria & Leesville clinics as needed required.
