Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides overnight individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results. This position covers a 23‑hour observation unit and will flex to dayshift during times of low census.

Schedule and Shift

36 scheduled weekly hours. Nights (Monday‑Thursday) 6 p.m. – 6:30 a.m. shift, 3‑12 hour shifts. No weekends, major holidays or call.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized, goal‑directed patient care for the observation unit.
• Deliver safe and effective nursing care in accordance with the nursing process.
• Interact with the health care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Flex to dayshift coverage during periods of low census.

Minimum Training and Education

• Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred.
• RN hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma in nursing must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain a BSN within four years of hire or reclassification.
• Minimum one year of work experience as a registered nurse required.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations

• Registered Nurse licensure from the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, either AHA BLS for Healthcare Providers or equivalent, or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Physical Requirements

• Perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, and working in confined or cramped spaces.
• Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted; lift and move objects with specific limits as described.
• Perform fine and gross motor tasks, maintain vision, hearing, and tactile functions adequate for patient care.
• Work rotating shifts, overtime as required, and in a latex‑safe environment.
