Registered Nurse II, PRN, Med Surg 3 South

UMMC Midtown Campus, one of two campuses of the University of Maryland Medical Center, has a long history of working to keep our community healthy and has grown to become a trusted teaching hospital for medical and surgical care in Baltimore City.

Located in Baltimore’s cultural center near the historic Mount Vernon neighborhood, UMMC Midtown Campus is a 180-bed, community teaching hospital focused on helping people manage chronic diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, pulmonary conditions, and infectious diseases.

Responsibilities
  • Understand and follow policies and protocols, assisting others in using these resources effectively. Be attentive to addressing patient needs in relation to quality measures, National Patient Safety Goals, and patient education.
  • Serve as charge nurse and/or preceptor. Collaborate with supervisors to resolve issues at the unit level.
  • Perform assessments and reassessments appropriate to the patient’s needs, collecting data from all sources to aid in formulating a nursing diagnosis.
  • Develop an individualized Plan of Care based on the patient’s assessment, setting mutual, realistic, and measurable goals, and document thoroughly in the patient’s record.
  • Coordinate and direct available resources and personnel in developing and following the Plan of Care.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse; completion of the Preceptor and/or Charge Nurse program preferred. Completion of 30 contact hours, including 12 annual Nursing Spectrum articles.
  • Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience.
  • ACLS provider certification within 1 year of employment in departments such as ICU/IMC, PACU, Interventional Radiology, GI Lab, and ED.
  • PALS certification within 1 year of employment in departments such as PACU and Emergency Department.
  • BLS provider certification.
