Job summary

Los Robles Regional Medical Center is seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse to join our surgical team. In this role you will provide intraoperative care tailored to each patient’s needs and advocate for patient safety throughout the procedure, aligning with our standards of excellence.

Key responsibilities include preparing the patient and OR, verifying identity and procedure, assisting anesthesia, documenting care, and collaborating with surgeons, technologists and support

Qualifications

• Current RN license and state certification, ACLS and BCLS required.
• Associate Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
• Prior OR experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Care for patients during the operative period.
• Advocate for patient and ensure correct procedure.
• Supervise OR suite and equipment and maintain sterile supplies.
• Prepare patient physically, mentally and emotionally for surgery.
• Verify patient identification and chart.
• Maintain OR schedule and room turnover.
• Assist anesthesia as required.
• Document and maintain patient records.
• Educate patient about perioperative care.

Job Summary And Qualifications

Seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse to join our dynamic team of healthcare professionals. In this role you will provide the best possible preventative and supportive intra-operative care to each patient based upon their individual needs and are looking for a team member who feels patient care is as meaningful as we do. • You will be responsible for the general well-being of the patient during the operative period
• You will act as the patient advocate, reviewing operative permit to ensure correctness of procedure. Functions as a member of the surgical team
• You will supervise care of the OR suite and equipment to ensures cleanliness, sterility, operation and availability of all necessary supplies and equipment and assists in opening sterile supplies
• You will prepare patient physically, mentally, and emotionally for surgical procedure and anticipates patient care needs during the procedure
• You will verify identification of patient according to person, chart, and ID band
• You will maintain awareness of OR schedule to ensure patient flow. Ensure timely turnover of room for next case
• You will assist anesthesia provider as required
• You will document and maintain patient record and chart to ensure an accurate record of medical treatment

What you will do in this role:

• Evaluate patients prior to surgery
• Provide patient and family education surrounding the procedure and peri-operative process
• Assume responsibility for patient preparation, including intravenous therapy, preoperative medications, and surgical site verification
• Participate in surgical site verification, including briefing, time out, debriefing, and universal protocols, according to hospital policy
• Recognize and respond to patient emergencies
• Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while managing evidence-based practices and continuous improvement initiatives
• Be an integral member of a dynamic interdisciplinary team – consisting of the provider(s), surgeons, surgical technologists and more
• Consistently apply the nursing process, critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, technical skills and leadership to independently deliver safe nursing care to patients
• Assess patient condition, monitor throughout your shift, and document changes in patient condition along with the care provided thoroughly
• Educate patients and families/caregivers about the patient’s medical condition, treatment and follow-up measures
