Job Description Summary

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal-directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level using the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and collaborates with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.

Responsibilities

Provides nursing care to patients using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation). Directs and leads other assigned team members and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members to deliver age-appropriate care in accordance with nursing standards of care and practice. Provides patient/family centered care using the nursing process and focuses on the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, religious, and environmental needs. Includes assessment, development of nursing diagnoses, outcome identification, planning, implementation of interventions, coordination of care, health teaching and promotion and evaluation of goals and interventions consistent with institutional policies. Maintains a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment by ensuring patient privacy and respectful, professional behavior. Demonstrates ability to function in a professional setting through participation in shared governance, adherence to standards of care, peer review, professional development, and leadership. Coordinates the efficient delivery of patient care services through application of care management principles. Identifies clinical priorities and initiates action to improve patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum training: Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred; RN with Associate or Diploma must be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and obtain a BSN within four years. One year registered nurse experience required.
• Licensure: Registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or by a compact state.
• Certifications: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers.
