Job summary

The University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a Registered Nurse for Med Surg 3 South, a 25-bed unit focused on chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, pulmonary conditions, and infectious diseases. Maryland RN licensure or Compact eligibility is required; BSN is preferred.

The role provides independent care, serves as a clinical resource, and collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient and family needs.

Qualifications

• MD RN licensure or Compact state eligibility required.
• BSN preferred; up-to-date status on all mandatory training and classes.
• At least 1 year of nursing experience with solid knowledge and clinical skills.
• Provides independent care to unit specific patient population; serves as clinical resource for others, utilizes evidence in practice.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care addressing patient/family needs.
• Serves as clinical resource for others.
• Assists in team development and evaluation of the Relationship-Based Care model; contributes to data collection on outcomes (e.g. hand offs, medication safety).
• Participates in NSQI-related implementation and initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates care with interdisciplinary team to address patient and family needs.
• Supports Relationship-Based Care initiatives and data collection on outcomes.

• Acts as primary coordinating nurse within the unit.

• BSN preferred. Up-to-date status on all mandatory training and classes.
• One year minimum nursing experience. Solid knowledge and clinical skills.
• Provides independent care to unit specific patient population; serves as clinical resource for others, utilizes and integrates evidence into practice, functions effectively in roles specific to unit (such as arrest team for ICU, triage for ED, etc).
• Serves as an effective primary coordinating nurse; collaborates with interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care addressing patient/family needs.
• Serves as clinical resource for others
