Job summary

Eastern State Hospital in Virginia is seeking a Registered Nurse II to provide nursing care to adult and geriatric psychiatric patients using the nursing process, in accordance with hospital policy and nursing standards. The role includes evaluating, supervising, documenting, and guiding staff performance.

The position follows a set 12-hour shift on a two-week rotating schedule, with 36 hours one week and 48 hours the next, or vice versa, with shifts from 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.

Qualifications

• Must have RN licensure or eligibility in Virginia.
• Previous nursing experience.
• Psychiatry and/or geriatric experience preferred.

Job Duties

Utilizing knowledge base and experience, provide quality nursing care to adult and geriatric psychiatric patients through the nursing process in accordance with hospital policy and procedure and standards of nursing practice. Evaluates, supervises, documents and provides guidance in performance of staff.

Schedule

This position works a set 12-hour shift on a two-week rotating schedule. Employees work 36 hours one week and 48 hours the following week or vice versa. Available shifts are 7:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. or 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.

Minimum Qualifications

• Registered nursing licensure or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Previous experience in nursing.

• Psychiatry and or geriatric related experience.
