Unit Description

The Intensive Care unit is located on the 2nd floor of Goshen Hospital. This is a 12-bed unit with primarily critically ill patients.
Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:1

Practices professional nursing at an excellent level within the Goshen nursing model of care, focusing on the patient and family using the nursing process, culturally appropriate interventions, and holistic principles. Emphasis is placed on continuity of care, patient advocacy, and maintaining a safe environment. The nurse is a leader in professional nursing, both in direct care and colleague relationships, guided by ethical principles, collaboration, peer review, evidence-based practice, and teaching & learning principles.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate of Nursing (ASN); a Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Colleagues hired with an associate degree must enroll in a BSN program within 12 months of hire and complete it within 5 years from the start date in a NLN or CCNE accredited program.
• Effective February 2021, colleagues with an associate degree and 10 or more years of nursing experience may be exempt from the BSN requirement.
• Valid Indiana Registered Nurse license is required. American Heart Association CPR certification is also required.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and assist with lifting up to 100 pounds. Heavier lifting requirements may apply in specific departments.
• Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
