Position: Registered Nurse, IBCLC - Lactation Consultant
Department: NICU
Schedule: 36 hours (Days, Every Third Weekend)
POSITION SUMMARY:
Experienced RN Lactation Consultant to support NICU parents and infants and connect with NICU parents on postpartum. Additionally, follow NICU infants through the continuum to pediatrics. Incredible opportunity to work in a safety net hospital with a diverse patient population to best support breastfeeding. Many opportunities to partner with the current IBCLC to develop programs, support patients in antepartum , improve patient education and continue to grow in improving health outcomes for NICU infants. NICU experience a plus, bi lingual abilities a plus.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
Certified Lactation Consultant - IBCLC
Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Current basic cardiac life support certification.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Basic computer proficiency inclusive of ability to access, enter, and interpret computerized data/information.
Effective interpersonal skills to facilitate communication with various members of the health care team, patients, and families.
Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work.
Multilingual skills (beyond that of English) in languages appropriate to the patient populations served by the medical center preferred.
Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas, e.g., enterstomal therapy, epidemiology, peri-operative areas.
Analytical ability to solve clinical nursing issues and conduct quality improvement research utilization projects.
Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work.
Ability to effectively delegate appropriate patient care activities.
The exact hours and schedule is open to discussion and has some flexibility.
