Children’s Hospital of Michigan is an international leader in pediatric and adolescent medicine. The hospital offers surgical services including general, thoracic, reconstructive, and cardiovascular surgeries. It features advanced imaging technology such as Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and MRI designed specifically for children. The Emergency Department is a verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and dedicated pediatric burn center. The hospital provides pediatric critical care, rehabilitation, neonatal, and perinatal medicine services at Children’s Hospital of Michigan, Children’s Hospital of Michigan - Troy, and six ambulatory sites.

Job Description

The Detroit Medical Center (DMC) Registered Nurse (RN) is a vital member of the Patient Care Services Team, responsible for ensuring quality nursing care. The RN manages patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with team members, including ancillary and support services. The RN's role includes leadership, partnership, collaboration, teaching, and supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians and healthcare providers
  • Delegate, assess, provide, and evaluate patient care
  • Provide and delegate patient care activities to team members
  • Monitor patient progress and prepare patients for discharge
  • Report directly to senior unit management and participate in shared decision-making activities

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from a school of nursing required
  • BSN preferred
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Michigan required
  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification required
