Job summary

Research Medical Center in Kansas City area seeks a Registered Nurse to coordinate and deliver high quality, patient-centered care in line with departmental standards. In collaboration with providers and the care team, the RN uses models such as Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage, advocating for patients and families while supporting excellent outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Licensed RN with current nursing license as required by state.
  • RN Diploma or equivalent nursing credential.
  • Must obtain trauma and pediatric life support certifications within specified timelines.
  • Advanced Trauma Care for Nurse or TNCC must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
  • Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver high quality, patient-centered care.
  • Collaborate with providers and care team using nursing models such as Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.
  • Advocate for patients and families, supporting the organization’s patient experience and outcomes.
  • Assess patient pain regularly and promote effective pain management with reassessments as needed.
  • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs to provide exceptional care.
  • Teach patients and families about their condition, treatment plan, medications and potential side effects, and follow-up steps.
  • Translate complex medical terminology to ensure understanding.
  • Instruct on non-medicinal follow-up measures such as healthy diet and exercise.
  • Prepare patients and families for future self-management.
