Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a specialty GI and Pulmonology procedural area. The team includes gastroenterologists and pulmonologists, with two procedural sites and dedicated pre/post units handling high-acuity patients.

Nurses operate as admitting, circulating, and recovery/discharge staff; about 50–60 procedures are performed daily. Shifts are 8 hours on weekdays, with full-time and part-time options and occasional after-hours call in a 10-week cycle.

Qualifications

  • Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).
  • Licensure: Current RN license in the hiring state and/or compact licensure.
  • Certifications: BLS required; additional certifications may be required depending on unit.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care in GI and Pulmonology procedural areas with procedures 50–60 per day.
  • Train and perform admitting, circulating, and recovery/discharge nurse roles.
  • Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams and maintain patient rights and confidentiality.

Position Details

We are a specialty procedural area for GI and Pulmonology procedures. We have 5 gastroenterologist and 4 pulmonologists. Our staff covers 2 procedural areas: the outpatient only- area in our physician’s plaza building and the hospital procedural area in the main hospital. Both locations have a pre/post unit. The hospital area serves high-risk outpatients, inpatient, and ED patients. Every nurse here trains and works in the 3 nursing roles: admitting nurse, circulating nurse (in the procedure room) and recovery/discharge nurse. We perform 50-60 procedures a day. Our shifts are 8 hours during the weekdays. Full time and Part time nurses also take some afterhours call usually consisting of 4 weeknights and one weekend in a 10-week period.

Qualifications

Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).

Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.

Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.

  • OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • PEARS (Pediatric Assessment Recognition and Stabilization)
  • S.T.A.B.L.E. (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, And Emotional Support) Six Assessment & Care Modules
  • C-EFM (Fetal Monitor Certification)
  • Other unit-specific certifications as required
Physical Requirements
  • Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
  • Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
  • Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
