Job summary

Novant Health Matthews Medical Center in Matthews, NC seeks a Registered Nurse for the Medical Surgical Unit. This 40-bed unit cares for a range of acute medical conditions and requires teamwork across disciplines to deliver high-quality care.

Schedule: FT Day 7a-7p with weekend and holiday requirements. You will apply clinical expertise, critical thinking, and compassion to support diverse patient needs and outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• RN licensure in the appropriate state is required.
• One year relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the healthcare team by establishing a personalized relationship with the patient and support system.
• Collaborate with physicians and team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate a care plan.
• Provide evidence-based care focused on optimal health or supportive end-of-life care.

As a Registered Nurse at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center, you'll be trusted to deliver expert, compassionate care on our Medical Surgical Unit. Your clinical expertise, critical thinking, and adaptability will play a vital role in providing safe, high-quality care for a diverse patient population.

This 40-bed unit cares for patients with a wide range of medical conditions, including post-cardiac catheterization recovery, stroke, COPD, kidney disease, chest wall (CWall) conditions, and other acute medical diagnoses. You'll collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment while building broad clinical experience and making a meaningful impact on the lives of your patients every day.

What You'll Do

The Registered Nurse serves as a leader of the healthcare team at Novant Health by establishing an authentic personalized relationship with the patient and their chosen support system, collaborating with physicians and other team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care that promotes optimal health or supports a peaceful death. The Registered Nurse utilizes best scientific evidence and compassion to assist the patient in navigating their health journey. The Registered Nurse accepts responsibility, authority, and accountability for management and provision of care in accordance with the current policies and procedures.

What We're Looking For

• Education: 4 Year / Bachelors Degree, preferred. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required. If your RN nursing license has been inactive, retired or lapsed for five years or more and you have not been licensed in another state during the last five years, successful completion of a Board approved refresher course is required prior to reactivating or reinstating your license. In order to be considered for current licensure status, you must apply for reinstatement within one year of completing the refresher course.


• Experience: One year relevant experience, preferred.


• Licensure/Certification: Current RN licensure in appropriate state, required.
