Job summary

Sierra Vista Hospital in Sacramento seeks Registered Nurses for the Nursing Department, with a focus on behavioral health. The facility is a 171-bed psychiatric care center serving patients and families since 1986.

The Staff Nurse (RN) coordinates and evaluates patient care with the health team, and may require cross-functional training to operate across the facility. Active nursing licensure and CPR are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required; Associates degree accepted, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least 6 months experience; experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.
• Currently licensed to practice by the State Board of Nursing; valid driver’s license preferred.
• Must pass a medication administration exam; CPR certification; completion of hospital behavioral and physical management training including de-escalation and restraints prior to assisting in procedures.

The Sierra Vista Hospital location, a 171-bed psychiatric care facility located in south Sacramento, is a full-service mental health facility and a center of support for patients and their families. Since 1986, we have offered our clinical expertise to those suffering from emotional, behavioral and addiction problems.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Staff Nurse (R.N.) is a registered nurse who prescribes, coordinates, and evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with health team members in accordance with the nursing process and the standards of care and practices. Cross-functional training may be required to learn skills that will allow the license to work seamlessly throughout the facility.

Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required. AssociatesDegrees accepted,Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Experience: At least 6 months experience. Experience in a psychiatric health-care facility preferred.

Licensure: Currently licensed to practice by the State Board of Nursing. Valid driver's license preferred.

Additional Requirements: Must pass a medication administration exam before administering medications. CPR certification, and successful completion of the hospital’s designated behavioral and physical management training program including de-escalation and appropriate use of seclusion and restraint required prior to assisting in the procedures. May be required to work overtime and flexible hours.
