Job summary

AtlantiCare, New Jersey, seeks a Registered Nurse to join an interdisciplinary team in collaboration with physicians. The RN will apply the nursing care process across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings while overseeing coordination of the interdisciplinary care plan with the medical team.

The ideal candidate holds active RN licensure in NJ (or a multi-state license). BSN is preferred, and BLS is required on hire. Advanced certification is encouraged to support specialty areas.

Job description

Role Summary

The Registered Nurse is a member of the interdisciplinary team working in collaboration with the Physician. The Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing care process consistent with their license and/or certification including initiation of culturally competent continuum of care including inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The Registered Nurse is responsible for overseeing any necessary coordination of the interdisciplinary plan of care and provides for its consistency with the medical treatment plan.

Patient Care Process
  • Assessment – an orderly process consisting of the identification, gathering and organization of subjective and objective data pertaining to the patient/family/significant other, including physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural.
  • Planning – an organized step in the process that consists of the identification of actual or potential problems and desired outcomes (goals) that result in a documented plan of care. The plan of care provides direction for the patient/family/significant other and interdisciplinary team.
  • Intervention – the specific interventions or orders that are implemented consistent with the plan of care and medical treatment plan.
  • Evaluation – a step in the process that involves determining the effectiveness of the interventions in achieving the plan of care and determining the conclusions concerning the achievement or lack of achievement of desired outcomes. The evaluation may initiate the need for reassessment and revisions to the problems, goals, plan of care, and interventions. This step provides for documentation of required actions.
  • Based upon findings identified during assessment and reassessment:
    • Patients have problems identified and prioritized relative to biophysical, psychological, environmental, self-care, educational and social status.
    • Goals are identified consistent with the problem to provide direction for patient care and health promotion.
    • Education is consistent with the identified problem and associated goals and is seen as critical to creating an environment that promotes patient empowerment.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred.
  • Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey or current multistate license required.
  • American Heart Association BLS required upon hire or transfer.
  • Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents will be trained and required to provide skill within 30‑60 days from hire.
  • Advanced Certification required; certification preferred.
Specialty Certifications and Experience (by location and department)
  • Emergency Room – Mainland/Satellite Hammonton: 2 years medical/surgical and/or emergency room experience preferred; ACLS required within 6 months of hire; minimum 8 contact hours of education per year in basic trauma assessment, intervention and stabilization; minimum 8 contact hours per year in basic stroke assessment, intervention and NIHSS to be completed by 6 months of hire; ATCN or TNCC required within 24 months; PALS or ENPC attained within 12 months; CPI by 10/31/25 for existing team members; new team members 1 year from hire.
  • Emergency Room – City: 2 years medical/surgical and/or emergency room experience preferred; ACLS required within 6 months of hire; ATCN or TNCC required within 24 months; minimum 8 contact hours per year in basic trauma assessment and baseline stroke assessment; PALS or ENPC attained within 12 months; CPI by 10/31/25.
  • Trauma Bay: ACLS, PALS & ATCN at time of hire; NIHSS and minimum 8 contact hours per year in basic stroke assessment or intervention by 5/31/25 for existing members; new members 1 year from hire.
  • Harmony Trauma, ICU, etc. (various locations): 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; critical care experience preferred; ACLS required within 6 months of hire; ATCN required within 3 years of hire; NIHSS and minimum 8 contact hours per year in basic stroke assessment or intervention by 5/31/25; CPI by 10/31/25.
  • Intensive Care Unit (ICU/CTICU): 2 years medical/surgical experience preferred; ACLS required within 6 months of hire; NIHSS and minimum 8 contact hours per year in basic stroke assessment or intervention by 5/31/25; CCPN preferred.
  • Cardiovascular ICU (CVU): 2 years critical care and CVU experience preferred; ACLS required within 6 months of hire; NIHSS; CPI by 10/31/25; CCRN preferred.
  • Heart and Vascular Unit (HVU): 2 years telemetry experience preferred; ACLS required.
  • Additional departments (e.g., Harbor PCU, Pines/ Central, Meadow, Harmony, Michigan) – requirements include that hospitals prefer 2 years medical/surgical experience, ACLS requirements (varying timelines), NIHS, and CPI as above.
  • Other specialized units (PAT, OR, PACU, Intervention Radiology, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, etc.) have specific credential and experience requirements as outlined in the original document.
Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the patient care unit or department leadership.
