Job Summary

Registered Nurse Floaters are responsible for providing continuous quality patient care in various settings. They are part of a resource team assigned to different units during shifts to meet patient care needs. These RNs possess the skills, competency, and qualifications to work in several clinical areas, divided into three teams: Specialty/CCU, Inpatient Acute, and Women's Services.

Responsibilities

• Act with patient advocacy when implementing the interdisciplinary plan of care.
• Collaborate with healthcare team to educate patients and support systems.
• Analyze, modify, and implement strategies to advance patient care.
• Ensure completion of nursing interventions, medical orders, and therapies.
• Prioritize duties based on patient needs and acuity levels.
• Communicate effectively within the team and during handoffs, using tools like SBARQ.
• Develop positive relationships with team members and internal customers.
• Operate medical equipment, provide routine nursing care, assist in critical situations, and administer medication therapies.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years in critical care or ED for Team 1; 1 year general medical-surgical/telemetry for Team 2; 2 years in Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, or NICU for Team 3.
• Current compact RN licensure in applicable state.
• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NVCI required; certifications like Specialty, Chemo, Triage, NRP preferred.

Physical Demands

Constant standing, frequent walking, bending/stooping, ability to lift/push/pull 100 lbs., and use of safety equipment as needed.
