Performs and documents accurate initial and ongoing patient assessments to evaluate patient conditions and identify healthcare needs. Develops, implements, and evaluates individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members. Administers medications, treatments, and therapeutic interventions safely and accurately in accordance with provider orders and organizational standards. Monitors patient responses to treatment and medication administration and communicates significant findings to appropriate healthcare providers. Provides leadership, guidance, and supervision to assigned nursing personnel to support safe, therapeutic, and quality patient care. Educates patients and families regarding diagnoses, medications, procedures, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and self-care strategies. Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate and optimize patient care. Maintains complete, accurate, and timely documentation in the electronic medical record. Supports patient safety initiatives and complies with infection prevention, quality improvement, and regulatory requirements. Floats to appropriate departments based on organizational needs, competency, licensure, certifications, and scope of practice. Participates in professional development, continuing education, and evidence-based practice initiatives. Responds appropriately to emergency situations and changes in patient condition within the scope of licensure and competency. Performs other duties as assigned.
Demonstrated ability to assess patient conditions, evaluate interventions, and modify plans of care using critical thinking and sound clinical judgment. Knowledge of professional nursing principles, standards of care, evidence-based practice, and medication administration. Basic computer proficiency, including electronic medical record systems, automated medication dispensing systems, and Microsoft Windows-based applications. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge and skill in the operation of clinical equipment, including intravenous therapy devices, central line equipment, pulse oximetry monitors, nasogastric tubes, Foley catheters, chest tube systems, hemodynamic monitoring equipment, and related patient care technologies. Strong clinical, organizational, communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and multitasking skills. Ability to exercise independent judgment and remain calm and professional in stressful situations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, families, physicians, healthcare professionals, and other team members. Commitment to ongoing professional development, patient rounding practices, and EKG education requirements as applicable. Ability to interpret EKG rhythms and findings based on assigned patient populations and departmental requirements. Ability to float to appropriate departments based on patient care needs, competency, licensure, certifications, and scope of practice.
Associate Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
One year of acute care hospital nursing experience preferred.
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Additional licensure or certification requirements may apply depending on the specific department, specialty area, patient population, facility, or state in which the position is located.
