Registered Nurse, Float Pool, 32hr, Nights

Location: Leominster, MA

Job Type: Full time

Schedule Details: Holidays - Every Other Holiday, Monday through Friday, Weekends - Every Other Weekend

Scheduled Hours: 11p-7:30a

Shift: Night Shift, 8 Hours

Cost Center: 24050 - 0150 NSG Float Pool

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the planning, delivery, and management of direct patient care using the nursing process and adhering to the standards of nursing practice within a specific unit or clinical area.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Nursing Process:
  • Maintains assignment of patients and caseload according to unit guidelines and established standards of practice.
  • Uses positive customer service skills when communicating with patients and their families.
  • Utilizes clinical reasoning and critical thinking.
  • Involves patients, families/significant others, and other disciplines in decision-making related to the patient’s plan of care.
  • Serves as a patient and family advocate.
  • Documents patient assessments, plans of care, and responses to interventions, meeting all unit documentation standards.
  • Maintains competency in management of clinical emergencies.
Clinical Practice:
  • Demonstrates essential knowledge of pharmacology/medications in administering drugs and monitoring the patient’s response.
  • Maintains competency with technology and equipment.
  • Acts as a charge nurse as requested by the nursing management team.
Collaboration:
  • Facilitates cooperative and collaborative relationships among various disciplines and departments to ensure effective quality patient care.
Climate:
  • Holds self accountable for professional practice.
  • Interacts effectively with diverse populations in stressful situations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
JOB KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
  • Ability to provide care for a designated group of patients according to unit guidelines and hospital policies.
  • Ability to lead, guide, and motivate staff.
EDUCATION:

Must be a graduate of a recognized school of Nursing. A Bachelor’s degree (BSN) in Nursing is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

2-3 years of Nursing experience preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

LICENSES:

Must have a current Massachusetts Registered Nurse License. Certification in a nursing specialty desired.
