Department Overview

Our Minneapolis critical care float team is an integral part of nursing services provided within our critical care community. Team members work within our pediatric intensive care unit and cardiovascular intensive care unit. Staff are able to expand their skills over time to provide support in other areas, including the emergency department and post-anesthesia care unit. Our critical care units care for children with a variety of acute and chronic illnesses, including those with respiratory, neurological and cardiovascular origins. Many of our patients require assisted ventilation, and some continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT). We value teamwork, open communication, safety and respect. We embrace an environment that encourages learning and professional growth. Our amazing team is committed to providing excellent care to our patients and families. We incorporate the Comfort Promise into our care — ensuring that procedural pain is minimized whenever possible.
