Job summary

Trinity Oakland Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as the RN Care Manager in the Operating Room, sharing responsibility with other managers to help patients and families achieve outcomes. Under the surgeon's direction, the nurse provides direct patient care as a first assistant during surgical intervention.

The role requires a current Michigan Nursing License, BSN preferred, and RNFA certification or progress toward it, with BLS certification and CNOR preferred.

Qualifications

• Current Michigan Nursing License is required.
• BSN degree preferred or must agree in writing to obtain a BSN within five years.
• Successful completion of RNFA formal program and RNFA exam.
• BLS Certification required.
• CNOR Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Functions as the RN Care Manager in the Operating Room, sharing accountability with other Care Managers on all shifts.
• Assist surgeon as a first assistant during surgical intervention.
• Facilitate patient movement through the perioperative experience and ensure continuity of care.
• Collaborate with the health care team to coordinate perioperative patient care.

SUMMARY: Functions as the RN Care Manager in the Operating Room sharing accountability with other Care Managers on all shifts to assist patient/families in achieving outcomes. Together with the health care team manages the continuity of care, negotiates, directs and provides patient care services. Additionally, facilitates patient movement through the perioperative experience. Under general direction of the surgeon, provides direct patient care as a first assistant during surgical intervention.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / LICENSURE

• Requires current Michigan Nursing License
• Graduation from accredited nursing program
• BSN degree preferred or must agree in writing to obtain a BSN within five years
• Successful completion of RNFA formal program and RNFA exam
• BLS Certification
• CNOR Certification preferred

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

• Three to five years of clinical experience in perioperative nursing including both circulating and scrubbing proficiency.
