Job summary

HSHS Medical Group is seeking a Registered Nurse, First Assist (RNFA) to support the Surgery team at St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese, IL. The RNFA will assist the surgeon during operations and manage peri-operative nursing tasks including assessment and post-operative care.

Eligible candidates must hold a nursing license in the practice state, have a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, and either CNOR certification or CSTFA with OR experience and a plan to obtain CNOR within 6 months. ACLS preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required.
• RN license in state of practice is required.
• CNOR certification is required for hires after 24 Apr 2024 or RN with CSTFA and OR experience under 2 years until CNOR eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon intra-operatively as RNFA.

The RNFA practices peri-operative nursing and is therefore responsible for independent nursing behaviors of peri-operative assessment and post-operative evaluation of care. The intra-operative practice of the RNFA is inter-department with the surgeon. Position Specifics: o Department: Surgery o Core Function: Nursing o Schedule: Full Time, 40 hours/week, Days o Facility: St. Joseph's Hospital o Location: Breese, IL**Education Qualifications*** Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required.* Registered Nurses (RNs) who were practicing as RNFAs prior to January 1, 2020, who do not have a baccalaureate degree, are permitted to practice as RNFAs.**Experience Qualifications*** First Assist experience is preferred.**Certifications, Licenses and Registrations*** Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in state of practice is required.
