The nurse will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care while supervising other nursing staff. The ideal candidate has an associate's degree, is licensed in Alabama, and possesses BLS and ACLS certifications. Flexibility in scheduling is required, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months.

Description

The registered nurse assumes principal responsibility for total care of assigned clients in the respective unit.

Essential Duties

• This nurse is responsible for the processes of assessment, reassessment, establishment of nursing diagnoses, formulation of the written plan of care, implementation of care, and evaluation of care
• The nurse initiates health care training and education to the client / family as required while supporting and fostering the goals of Andalusia Health and the Department of Nursing
• The registered nurse demonstrates awareness of ongoing needs of the unit and provides leadership and direction to other team members in maintaining optimal standards of nursing care
• The position is accountable for the supervision of other licensed and non-licensed nursing personnel for assigned units
• The position requires flexibility in scheduling and ability to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays to ensure continuity of care and appropriateness of nursing coverage to the patients of Andalusia Health on all units
• The registered nurse is responsible for providing care to all of the patient population with consideration to age-specificity and diagnosis

• The position requires the cognitive ability and practical ability to provide nursing care appropriate to the patient population assigned, considering client age and diagnosis with full implementation of the nursing process to include assessment/reassessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation
