Job summary

Surgi-Center of Central VA is seeking a Registered Nurse Endoscopy PRN to join our outpatient center in Fredericksburg, VA. You will perform preoperative assessments, administer medications as directed, monitor PACU patients, and educate on postoperative care.

Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a smooth transition between preoperative and postoperative phases, maintain accurate records, and uphold regulatory standards in a multi-specialty facility.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN school
• Current VA RN license (unrestricted)
• BLS Certification required
• Minimum 1 year experience in outpatient endoscopy or surgery
• 2 years GI experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough preoperative assessments.
• Administer medications and anesthesia as directed by the anesthesiologist.
• Monitor patients in PACU and assess recovery and vitals.
• Provide patient education on postoperative care and expectations.
• Collaborate with surgical team for smooth transitions between preoperative and postoperative phases.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Assist with development and implementation of nursing care plans.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.

Registered Nurse Endoscopy at Surgi-Center of Central VA:

• Conduct thorough preoperative assessments, ensuring patients are prepared for surgery both physically and emotionally.
• Administer medications and anesthesia as directed by the anesthesiologist.
• Monitor patients closely in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), assessing their recovery and vital signs.
• Provide comprehensive patient education regarding postoperative care and expectations.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a smooth transition between preoperative and postoperative phases.
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Assist with the development and implementation of nursing care plans.
• Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN School of Nursing
• Current RN unrestricted VA license
• BLS Required
• Minimum of 1-year experience in Outpatient Endoscopy or surgery
• Prefer 2 years' experience in a GI setting
