Responsibilities

We are actively hiring for a Registered Nurse (RN) Endoscopy.

  • Develop an individualized perioperative patient plan of care by implementing:
  • Protecting the patient from injury caused by extraneous objects and chemical, electrical, mechanical, and thermal sources.
  • Demonstrating safe operation of equipment and machinery and following procedures for reporting and correcting unsafe situations.
  • Speaking up with safety concerns acting as the patient's advocate.
  • Handling specimens according to facility policy and procedures.
  • Adhering to standard precautions including the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Complying with Universal Protocol and facility site validation and time-out policy.
  • Communicating the patient’s current status to relevant parties throughout the continuum of care.
  • Administering medications safely and correctly using the 8 rights of medication administration.
  • Practicing and monitoring aseptic technique.
  • Implementing the plan of care including managing patient recovery from anesthesia – Moderate sedation and Monitored anesthesia care.
  • Assessing patient status at intervals according to facility policies and procedures.
  • Providing nursing care and appropriate monitoring.
  • Performing interventions to maintain tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels.
  • Ensuring scopes are prepared for use following policies and manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Maintaining endoscopy instruments and accessories in working order, troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Performing interventions to maintain the patient’s system balances and ensuring normothermia post-operation.
  • Protecting the patient from infection.
  • Assessing the knowledge level of the patient or support person.
  • Providing education on procedures, medications, pain management, and psychosocial responses.
  • Involving the patient/support person in care decisions and rehabilitation.
  • Protecting patient rights, dignity, and privacy.
  • Providing age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards.
  • Evaluating patient progress and transferring care as needed.
  • Providing accurate, concise hand-off reports.
  • Delegating tasks according to laws and job descriptions.
  • Documenting care episodes accurately and legibly.
  • Demonstrating effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Serving as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Participating in quality reviews and performance improvement.
  • Using problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Maintaining required competencies and pursuing professional growth.
  • Acting as a patient advocate, maintaining confidentiality.
  • Complying with policies, standards, and regulations.
  • Participating in team meetings, trainings, and safety huddles.
  • Demonstrating fiscal responsibility.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • One year of GI, OR, or medical/surgical nursing experience preferred.
  • Current state nursing licensure in good standing.
  • Successful completion of BLS/BCLS within 90 days of employment.
  • Successful completion of ACLS within 90 days of employment.
  • Successful completion of PALS if pediatric care is included, within 90 days.
  • Specialty certification in GI Nursing is preferred.
