Job summary

The role reports to the OR Charge Nurse and Nurse Director, with a focus on assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for adolescents to older adults. Candidate must hold a NJ RN license, BCLS, ACLS within 30 days of hire, and have at least one year in acute care or GI lab settings, plus moderate sedation competency within 30

• ACLS within 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Minimum of one year experience in an acute care or outpatient surgery setting or GI lab.
• Completed Moderate Sedation competency within 30 days upon hire required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct and indirect patient care for Medical-Surgical Outpatient and/or Inpatients receiving surgical or invasive procedures.
• Communicate with physicians, co-workers and nursing leadership about patient condition, including diagnostic results and symptoms.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or response to treatment; coordinate with other departments to ensure continuity of care.
• Adhere to regulations, standards and hospital policies; participate in performance improvement activities and unit meetings.

Responsibilities

The GI LAB RN is directly accountable to the OR Charge Nurse and Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the Shift Nursing Supervisor. Responsible for the delivery of direct and indirect patient care for the Medical-Surgical Outpatient and/or Inpatients receiving surgical and/or invasive procedure through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation for adolescents, adults and older adults. Communicates with physicians, co-workers and/or nursing director, as appropriate about the patient’s clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatololgy. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. Works with other departments to provide a continuum of care and co-workers to provide continuous, quality patient care, efficient patient flow and unit maintenance and organization. Responsible for adherence to regulations, standards and hospital or unit policies and procedures. Responsible for participation in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-services. Acts as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.

Qualifications
