Job Description

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Additional certifications (e.g., ACLS, PALS) relevant to the department may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Specialty nursing certifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize evidence-based knowledge to partner with patients and families to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate care.
  2. Assess and collaborate with patients, families, and other disciplines to develop and communicate care plans that consider cultural needs and enhance healthcare experiences.
  3. Develop individualized, outcome-based care plans, coordinate interdisciplinary meetings, and ensure seamless discharge planning.
  4. Implement care plans safely and promptly, document interventions, and collaborate with colleagues, utilizing evidence-based treatments and health education.
  5. Evaluate the effectiveness of care strategies and update care plans based on patient responses.
  6. Apply critical thinking and research to implement nursing care, demonstrating age-appropriate, culturally sensitive care.
  7. Perform procedures and treatments according to standards and guidelines.
  8. Administer medications safely, assessing patient responses and pharmacological considerations.
  9. Maintain clinical competency with technology and equipment.
  10. Advocate and educate patients and families about their care.
  11. Provide high-quality, efficient, and safe care, using data trends to improve practice.
  12. Participate in safety and quality initiatives, utilizing principles to improve outcomes.
  13. Engage in performance improvement activities, data analysis, and quality championing.
  14. Foster collaborative relationships among disciplines to ensure effective care and a positive work environment.
  15. Delegate responsibilities appropriately, understanding team members' roles and capabilities.
  16. Promote service excellence through professional conduct, respectful communication, and resource management.
  17. Participate in professional development, maintain licensure, seek certifications, and mentor staff.
  18. May assume charge nurse functions in collaboration with leadership.
  19. Facilitate communication, share information responsibly, and participate in staff meetings and organizational updates.
