Job summary

Prime Healthcare's Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth, KS is seeking an Emergency Room RN for per diem shifts. You will provide rapid emergency care in a fast-paced ED, with 12-hour shifts and variable schedules.

Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, TNNC, and an active state RN license; ER experience preferred. Per Diem status offers flexible hours and opportunities to work across critical care teams.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintained.
• ACLS (AHA) certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained.
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• TNNC within 6 months of hire.
• Minimum of one year experience as staff RN in acute care hospital setting; ER setting preferred.
• CEN certification preferred.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients on arrival to determine severity and prioritize care using triage protocols.
• Provide direct care including medications, wound care, monitoring vitals, and pain management.
• Assist with stabilizing patients and initiating life-saving interventions (ACLS, PALS, trauma care).
• Manage high-stress and rapidly changing situations while caring for multiple patients.
• Communicate changes to physician about patient condition and diagnostic results.
• Stay up to date with EMTALA regulations and reporting of abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatment options, and discharge instructions.

We are seekinganEmergency RoomRN,also referred to as an Emergency DepartmentRN or Emergency Services RN.The ER RN provides rapid and skilled care to patients who arrive at the hospital seeking emergency medical attention. The ER Nurses are skilled professionals who play a critical role in delivering emergent and urgent care to patients in the emergency department.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

• Assess patients upon arrival todeterminethe severity of their condition and prioritizecareaccordingly, follow standardized triage protocols to quicklyidentifypatients who require immediate attention due to life-threatening conditions

• Provide direct care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions and injuries which may involve administering medications, performing procedures such as wound care or splinting,monitoringvital signs, and managing pain

• In cases of severe illness or trauma, you mayassistwith stabilizing patients andinitiatinglife-saving interventions, this can include advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), and trauma care

• Managehigh-stressand rapidly changing situations effectively. remain calm, focused, and decisive while providing care to multiple patients simultaneously during busy shifts or mass casualty events

• Communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology

• Stay up to date withEmergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act(EMTALA)regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse toappropriate agenciesand Hospital Social Worker

• Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment options, and discharge instructions

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING1. Current and valid state RN License.2. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.3. Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.4. Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire. 6. Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 6 months of hire required. 7. Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred. 8. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred. 9. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):

1. In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current. 2. EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire. 3. Non OB facilities: NRP (AHA) certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
