Saint John Hospital in Leavenworth, KS is seeking an experienced Emergency Room RN to provide rapid and skilled care to patients arriving for emergency medical attention. The ER RN will perform triage, direct patient care, and participate in life-saving interventions in a fast-paced ED.

Requirements include a valid RN license, BLS, ACLS, and TNNC within designated timeframes; 1 year ER experience preferred, with BSN/CEN considered a plus. Per Diem/PRN with 12-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 6 months of hire required.
• Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; ER setting preferred.
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsabilités

• Assess patients upon arrival to determine severity and prioritize care; follow triage protocols.
• Provide direct care including medications, wound care, monitoring vital signs, and pain management.
• Assist with stabilizing patients and initiating life-saving interventions (ACLS, PALS, trauma care).
• Manage high-stress situations and care for multiple patients during busy shifts or mass casualty events.
• Communicate with physicians about changes in clinical condition and test results.
• Stay up to date with EMTALA regulations and reporting of abuse.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, options, and discharge Instructions.

Location: Saint John Hospital – Leavenworth, KS

We are seeking an Emergency Room RN, also referred to as an Emergency Department RN or Emergency Services RN . The ER RN provides rapid and skilled care to patients who arrive at the hospital seeking emergency medical attention. The ER Nurses are skilled professionals who play a critical role in delivering emergent and urgent care to patients in the emergency department.

Responsibilities

• If you have experience as a Registered Nurse in Critical Care, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Cardiac Care, or Emergency Department, you are encouraged to apply!

Essential Duties And Responsibilities (includes, But Not Limited To)

• Assess patients upon arrival to determine the severity of their condition and prioritize care accordingly, follow standardized triage protocols to quickly identify patients who require immediate attention due to life-threatening conditions
• Provide direct care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions and injuries which may involve administering medications, performing procedures such as wound care or splinting, monitoring vital signs, and managing pain
• In cases of severe illness or trauma, you may assist with stabilizing patients and initiating life-saving interventions, this can include advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), and trauma care
• Manage high-stress and rapidly changing situations effectively. remain calm, focused, and decisive while providing care to multiple patients simultaneously during busy shifts or mass casualty events
• Communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology
• Stay up to date with Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA) regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker
• Educate patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment options, and discharge instructions

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 6 months of hire required.
• Minimum of one year experience as a staff nurse RN in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred.
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (facility May Require Items Listed Below)

• In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current.
• EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
• Non OB facilities: NRP (AHA) certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
