Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital, part of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a Registered Nurse for Full Time Evenings in Elgin, IL. You will provide direct patient care in Telemetry within the Emergency Department, following the nursing process and coordinating with physicians to respond rapidly to changes in patient condition.

Required are an active RN license, BLS, ALS, and PALS/ENPC certifications, with BSN preferred. Additional credentials like CEN are advantageous and tuition reimbursement is available

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license.
• BLS certification must be current.
• ALS certification required within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• PALS and/or ENPC certification within 60 days of hire and maintain current.
• CEN certification preferred.
• BSN degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe patient care in Telemetry using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
• Deliver direct patient care within the scope of practice and guide patient/family teaching.
• Collaborate with physicians and nursing staff in the Emergency Department to communicate changes in patient condition.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department. They communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current and valid state RN License.2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.3. Current ALS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current. 4. Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 60 days upon hire and maintain current. 5. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.6. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):

1. ECRN or MICN certificate required within 12 months of hire and maintained current 2. EDAP certified facilities: Completion of required annual education 3. Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.4. Trauma designated facilities: Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required within 12 months of hire and maintain. Non-trauma facilities, TNCC preferred.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $35.35 to $53.58. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
