Job summary

HCA HealthONE Aurora is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Emergency Room Float Pool, floating between HCA HealthONE Aurora and Centennial ER campuses to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

The RN supports staffing, uses advanced tools, and collaborates with medical teams to ensure safe, efficient care. A CO nursing license and ER experience are required; ongoing education and teamwork are emphasized.

Qualifications

  • ACLS within 30 days of employment start date.
  • BLS within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention within 30 days of employment start date.
  • PALS within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) within 6 months of employment start date.
  • Colorado RN license (or multistate license).
  • Associate Degree or RN Diploma; BSN desirable.
  • Minimum of two years of ER RN experience.
  • Ability to travel between HCA HealthONE Aurora and Centennial campuses.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered and document in the medical record.
  • Respond promptly to patient requests and anticipate needs.
  • Teach patients and families about conditions, treatment plans, medications, and follow-up.
  • Prepare patients and families for future self-management.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the nature and specific requirements of the department, and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients/families/caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision/mission/values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes that contribute to overall departmental performance.

  • Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
  • Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
  • Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
  • Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

The Registered Nursedemonstratesadvanced knowledge,skillsand understands the unique aspects of the population servedin the care of his/her patients.Each service also requires specialized skills.The delivery of care is based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, safety and learning needs of the individual patient.The Registered Nurse may rotate to areas other than his/her assigned service area/s, andwill perform only those duties for which he/she hasdemonstratedcompetency.The Registered Nurse performs delegated duties consistent with the scope of practice and functions within the philosophy and overall plan of care delivery atTMCA. The registered nurse will follow the criteria set forth by the HealthONE RN Super Pool criteria and must float between multiple facilities/campuses.

What qualifications you will need:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Nonviolent Crisis Intervention must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
  • Registered Nurse license in the state of Colorado, or multistate license
  • Associate Degree or Registered Nurse Diploma, BSN desireable
  • Minumum of two years of experience working as an RN in Emergency Room setting
  • Ability to travel between HCA HealthONE Aurora and Centennial campuses
