Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Leominster, MA is seeking a Hyperbaric RN responsible for administering hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients, operating the chamber and related systems, and ensuring safe, high-quality care.

Applicants must hold current MA RN licensure and complete a CHRN/CHT/DMT within 36 months of hire, plus a hyperbaric medicine introductory course within 6 months of hire. This is a 40-hour, Monday–Friday, non-exempt position with opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Current Massachusetts licensure and registration.
• Completion of an accredited school of nursing program.
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification current or in place where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Utilize the Nursing Process for patient care from admission to discharge.
• Perform patient assessment and reassessment per standard procedures.
• Develop and coordinate individual care plans including discharge planning.
• Supervise and coordinate nursing care within the assigned setting.
• Document patient care per standard procedures.
• Educate patients and families about care plans and treatments.
• Collaborate with other health care providers to ensure quality and continuity of care.
• Administer medications, perform treatments, and operate equipment per policy.

Responsible for the planning, delivery and management of direct patient care utilizing the nursing process and adhering to the standards of nursing practice.

Hiring Range

$33.91 - $71.55 (final offer may vary based on experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations)

Major Responsibilities

• Utilizes the Nursing Process for the delivery and management of patient's care from Admission to Discharge, appropriate to the developmental age of the patient population.
• Performs patient assessment/reassessment according to standard procedure.
• Develops and coordinates individual plan of care including discharge planning.
• Directs, supervises, coordinates and evaluates nursing care within assigned clinical setting.
• Delegates appropriately to others in accordance with job description and competency level.
• Documents patient care according to standard procedure.
• Develops, implements/coordinates and documents Education Plan for patient/family/ significant other.
• Ensures quality and continuity of care through collaboration with other health care providers.
• Administers medications, performs treatments, therapies and operates equipment according to policy and procedure; assists physician with treatment and procedures and special tests as required or directed.
• Participates in and supports Nursing Governance activities.
• Assumes responsibility for professional growth; assists in education and development of staff.
• Participates in performance improvement initiatives and demonstrates the use of quality improvement in daily operations.

Position Qualifications

License/Certification/Education

• Current Massachusetts licensure and registration.
• Completion of an accredited school of nursing program.
• BLS is a requirement for every RN unless advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification is current, in addition to any unit specific certifications and competencies.

Experience/Skills

• Thorough knowledge of the discipline of Nursing.

Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

Work is considered medium. Position requires work indoors in a normal patient care environment.

Hyperbaric RN

• This RN focuses on the administration of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Physician and is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems; is also designated as the HBO Safety Director.
• In addition to a MA RN license, the following is required:
• Be certified as a CHT, CHRN or DMT within 36 months of hire.
• Must complete a National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology approved hyperbaric medicine introductory course within 6 months of hire.
