Job summary

St. Elizabeth Hospital Emergency Department in Fort Morgan, Colorado seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Level III trauma center.

The ED team emphasizes compassionate, patient- and family-centered care, advancing modern nursing through collaboration with the healthcare team. You will assess and document patient conditions, administer therapies, and participate in interdisciplinary rounds while upholding state nurse practice standards.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma/endorsement required.
  • Current RN license (state licensed or compact licensure) required.
  • BLS and ACLS certification through AHA.
  • ENPC or PALS certification.
  • NIHSS certification.
  • TNCC or TCAR within one year of hire.
  • Minimum of 1 year RN ED experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs; gather data from records and assessments.
  • Evaluate patient responses and intervene to optimize outcomes; develop and modify care plans with interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate competency in IVs, wound care, meds administration, catheterization, specimen collection; maintain charts accurately.
  • Document status, interventions, and outcomes; use IT to communicate and support decision-making.
  • Advocate for patient health, safety, and rights; educate patients/families based on learning needs.
  • Teach patients and families and assess teaching effectiveness.

Education

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our RN, you will assume responsibility for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with the healthcare team and patient/family to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient, advancing modern nursing through compassionate care.

To be successful in this role, you will be a Registered Nurse with a commitment to compassionate, high-quality patient care, strong communication and collaboration skills, and the ability to apply the nursing process effectively within a supportive, mission-driven environment.

  • Assess patient’s physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interview, review of medical records & clinical data.
  • Evaluates patient’s response and intervenes to ensure optimal patient outcome. Develop and implement patient plan of care and observe outcomes in accordance with nursing standards and in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrate competency in a variety of therapeutic/diagnostic interventions including, but not limited to, IV’s, incision/wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections. Thorough and confidential maintenance of patient charts and records.
  • Document ongoing status, interventions, patient response and outcomes in an accurate, timely manner. Use information technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making.
  • Promote, advocate, and collaborate to protect the health and safety and rights of each patient. Provide patient/family education through assessment of patient/family learning readiness, needs, and ability.
  • Provide teaching and evaluate effectiveness of teaching.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Associates Degree in Nursing; Nursing Diploma or by endorsement
  • RN License required; Current state nursing licenses or valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact
  • BLS, ACLS through AHA
  • ENPC or PALS
  • NIHSS
  • TNCC or TCAR within one year of hire
  • One (1) year RN ED experience
  • Physical Requirements: Medium Work exert/lift up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. frequently, and/or up to 10lbs. constantly
Preferred
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing

St. Elizabeth Hospital Emergency Department is state verified as a Level 3 trauma center with the ability to stabilize and keep 85% of traumas presenting to the hospital. Additionally, as a Chest Pain Center, the Emergency Department provides the highest level of care for chest pain patients and transfer patients to higher levels of care within our network as needed. Yearly volumes for the Emergency Department are around 7,758 annually and admit nearly 800 patients to our inpatients setting each year.
