Overview

As an integral member of the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) healthcare team, the Registered Professional Nurse (RN) upholds the YNHHS mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives to provide the highest level of patient-centered care. The RN practices professional nursing within the legal and ethical frameworks established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model. The role emphasizes leadership, delegation, collaboration, effective communication, and ensuring quality outcomes.

The RN provides care that includes establishing therapeutic relationships, respecting patient values, and working collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Responsibilities

1. Standards of Practice: Guided by ANA standards, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care, health teaching, and evaluation.

Qualifications

Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing school; BSN preferred. Current BCLS certification required within one month of hire.

Experience: All RNs encouraged to advance through SPIRE program.

Licensure: Licensed and registered in Connecticut; specialty certification encouraged.

Additional Information

Hematology Oncology experience required; Stem Cell/Cell Therapy experience preferred.
