Job summary

Henry Ford Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Regional Float pool at Henry Ford Jackson Hospital. In this contingent role, you will provide direct patient care across units, perform comprehensive assessments, and develop individualized care plans in a fast-paced environment.

You will float to multiple locations as needed, adapt quickly, document accurately, and communicate clearly with patients, families and the care team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing is preferred but not always required.
  • Current nursing licensure in Michigan or compact state.
  • 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience in related area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care across units, utilizing clinical knowledge to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and identify potential complications or changes in patient condition before significant clinical deterioration occurs
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care
  • Demonstrate flexibility and clinical judgment by rapidly orienting to different units, patient populations, and care protocols within the float pool environment
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards
  • Collaborate with nursing leadership and clinical staff to support quality improvement initiatives and maintain safe patient care standards
  • Work assigned day and night shifts as scheduled to meet organizational staffing needs

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse - Regional Float demonstrates advanced clinical expertise in managing complex nursing problems across diverse patient populations and clinical settings. This role requires the ability to rapidly assess and adapt to multiple units and patient care environments while maintaining exceptional standards of care.

Education & Experience:

  • Current BLS certification (required)

  • Current ACLS certification (required)

  • Current NRP, EFM, ENPC, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications where required (required)

  • Current TB screening and required vaccinations (i.e., flu) (required)
