Job summary

Mercy is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 24-bed Emergency Department unit with Level III trauma capabilities. The RN will implement the nursing process to deliver safe, patient-centered care and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams while upholding patient rights and confidentiality.

The department handles diverse acute and complex cases, including postoperative cardiac, neurosurgical, trauma, and general medical emergencies, with a 4:1 patient ratio.

Qualifications

• Graduated from a school of nursing (associate's degree, Diploma, or BSN).
• Current RN license in the hiring state and/or compact licensure.
• BLS certification or complete within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS/NRP/ENPC/TNCC/C-PHON/OCN/PALS/STABLE/C-EFM or other unit-specific certifications may be required.

Position Details:

The Emergency Department is a 24-bed unit providing care to a highly diverse patient population within a Level III trauma setting. The department cares for a wide range of acute and complex conditions, including post-operative cardiac cases (CABG/valve), neurosurgical patients, trauma, renal, and general medical emergencies. As a Level III trauma center, the ED delivers rapid stabilization and emergency care while coordinating advanced treatment when needed.

Ratio: 4:1

Qualifications:

Education: Graduated from a school of nursing (associate's degree, Diploma, or BSN).

Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.

Certifications: Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.

Physical Requirements:

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
