Job summary

Starr Regional Medical Center in Athens, TN seeks an experienced Emergency Room RN for night shifts (2pm-2am) with a 3x12 schedule and rotating weekends. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified applicants. The department offers a fast-paced environment with opportunities for growth within Lifepoint Health.

RNs provide critical care in a diverse ED, serving the Athens and Etowah communities, mentoring junior staff and participating in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• ADN required; BSN preferred.
• Active Tennessee RN license required.
• BCLS required; ACLS/PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
• Establishes a plan of care involving the patient and family.
• Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff on shift.
• Assists in determining staffing levels based on census and acuity.
• Provides direct patient care as needed and floats between staff.
• Takes patient assignments to meet staffing needs.
• Evaluates care effectiveness and outcomes.
• Responds to complaints about patient care and coordinates with care teams.
• Performs admissions, discharges, orders, and transfers as assigned.

How you'll contribute

An Emergency Room RN Who Excels In This Role

• Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patient's condition.
• Establishes a plan of care which is appropriate to problems identified and involves the patient according to his or her capabilities and desires.
• Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shift.
• Assists in determining staffing levels and assignments based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, patient acuity and work/patient flow.
• Provides direct patient care as needed.
• Floats between staff to assist with problem-solving.
• Takes patient assignments to meet staffing needs.
• Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care and identifies any issues that affect desired patient outcomes.
• Responds to complaints about patient care and related services, and manages through established channels.
• Performs role-specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers.
• Ensures staff has necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality patient care.

What we're looking for

• Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Certifications: BCLS required; ACLS, PALS, and Handle with Care preferred.
• Licenses: Active Tennessee RN license (single-state or compact) required. If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence (PSOR) before employment begins.
