Job summary

Riverview Health in Indiana is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Emergency Department/ER locations. You will triage, assess, administer medications, and collaborate with the care team to ensure high-quality patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum two years in Critical Care and two years in Emergency Department, with Indiana RN licensure and BLS. ACLS, PALS are required within 90 days. We offer flexible scheduling and team-oriented culture.

Responsibilities

• Triages patients in the Emergency Department based on condition.
• Assesses patient condition via visual evaluation, vital signs, and medication reconciliation.
• Administers medications and assists with procedures as prescribed by physicians.
• Monitors patient condition and communicates with care team per policies and regulations.
• Partners with care team in discharge or admission processes.
• Charts patient history, condition, medications, and treatments in EMR.
• Discharges patients and provides education and transportation confirmation.

RN Emergency positions are available at our hospital-based Emergency Departments and free standing ER/Urgent Care locations in Hamilton, County Indiana. There are differences in the process flow between our hospital-based and freestanding locations, but all deliver a culture of strong teamwork, self-scheduling, flexible hours, and leadership that is accessible for questions, concerns and open to ideas for improving nursing processes and procedures. On-the-unit orientation, ongoing education and resources support skill development and mastery.

Job Responsibilities

• Triages patients who present to the Emergency Department, prioritizing care based on the critical nature and severity of a patient’s condition.
• Assesses patient condition through visual evaluation, medication reconciliation, and vital sign measurements such as: blood pressure reading pulse rate, respiration, and temperature throughout the course of a patient’s stay in the Emergency Department.
• Administers medication and assists with medical procedures as prescribed by the treating physician.
• Monitors patients for changes in condition and communicates timely and effectively with those involved in the welfare, care or treatment of the patient in compliance with applicable policies and regulations.
• Partners with other members of the patient care treatment team in the provision of procedures, interventions, discharge or admission processes.
• Charts all patient medical history, contact information, condition, medications, and treatment as well as update the electronic medical record throughout the patient stay in the Emergency Department. Charting is accurate and consistent with applicable department and organization standards.
• Discharges patients from the Emergency Room post treatment. Completes discharge instructions, educates the patient and/or caregiver ensuring understanding of the instructions, answers questions, and confirms transportation from the Emergency Department.
• Other duties as assigned or required.

Education Requirements

• Minimum: Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse Program by date of hire.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum: Two (2) years of Critical Care experience and two(2) years of Emergency Department experience.

License/Certification Requirements

Minimum:

• Registered Nurse licensed to practice in the state of Indiana
• Basic Life Safety (American Heart Association)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 90 days of hire or transfer to position(American Heart Association)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support within 90 days of hire or transfer to position (American Heart Association)

Preferred Certification: CEN, TNCC, NRP
